Introducing Mark VanVleet

mark vanvleet

I got my first bass guitar for Christmas from Sears back in the early 70s when I was 14 years old. I'll never forget it. I broke that guitar in good, even filing down a lag bolt to replace a broken tuning key and using a crescent wrench to tune the "A" string.

I have graduated to an Ibanez Sound Gear GX800. My first real amp was the Peavey 400 with a 2x15 cab, then moved up to a Peavey 2018 cab and now play through a Hartkey 4.5 combined with an Ampeg 410 cabinet, all powered by a Peavey Max preamp and a Peavey 9.5 amplifier.

One of my first inspirational bass guitar players was Rush’s Geddy Lee, but let’s not forget Terrence Butler (aka Geezer) from Black Sabbath or Billy Sheehan from the band Mr. Big, one of the best bass guitar players ever.

I have played in bands throughout the years, all of which were cover bands playing in local bars and lounges across Indiana. It was always fun, but nothing very serious until I hooked up with Joe DeCanto. Joe’s dedication to music is phenomenal and has re-ignited my own dedication. Joe and I ran across Jason Dieter to complete the band. It started clicking on all cylinders and here we are, chasing our dreams, doing what we dream – write, record and produce our own music CD.

My heart tells me that without my wife Brenda who is my biggest fan, band promoter and critic all rolled into one, I would not be chasing this dream. She has encouraged me over the years not give up. She has put up with me and my friends who came over and set up the amps, drums and PA in the middle of our dining room, with only a smile and never a complaint. Thank you for your support Brenda....IF IT ROCKS, LET IT ROLL...
